NY Regional Private Forestry Services Manager

FORECON’s leadership team seeks an experienced, highly motivated, full-time Manager to lead our Private Forestry Services presence in NY. The preferred candidate should be located within 45 minutes of our headquarters in Falconer, NY. Starting compensation: $55,000 to $85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Principal Duties Include:

  • Lead, coordinate, and oversee all municipal and non-industrial private forestry management services offered in New York, including business development, and supervision of our Cortland Office Manager
  • Develop new non-industrial private client business in New York and handle contract drafting, administration and enforcement for that new business
  • Lead, train, develop and mentor assigned staff

Principal Requirements include:

  • Bachelors degree in Forestry, Resource Management, Conservation, Forest Ecology or Environmental Sciences from an accredited school
  • Minimum of seven (7) years practical field and/or management experience. Experience in supervising, coaching and leading other managers and early-tenure staff is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Familiarity and demonstrated competence with contracts, administration, compliance, and enforcement; familiarity with NY RPLT 480-a program is a plus
  • Well-organized and capable of leading projects with minimal supervision.
  • Driven, diplomatic and able to work harmoniously with fellow employees, direct reports, landowners, contractors, industry and agency stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of silvicultural systems, environmental laws and regulations and economic implications of forestry decision-making.

A “Task and Duty Guide” for this position is available upon request. Pay and benefits are commensurate with skills and experience. Professional dues, monthly truck stipend, and basic forestry equipment are provided by the company. Entrepreneurial spirit, solid communication skills, strong work ethic, and dedication to meet company and client needs are essential.
