This past summer, elevated populations of gypsy moth caterpillars caused noticeable leaf damage across New York State and northwestern Pennsylvania. Gypsy moth caterpillars have the ability to kill a variety of valuable trees if left unchecked.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) has an excellent website about this damaging insect, including its history, the types and extent of its damage, how to identify the insect, and how to best control these forest pests. We encourage you to visit their website at:

FORECON can provide landowners with gypsy moth surveying services to determine the possible damage that might be done if left untreated. If your trees were defoliated or if you feel you should have your woodlot inspected for possible damage, call FORECON at 716-664-5602. We are here to help!
