Pesky and Persistent — Tree of Heaven ( Ailanthus altissima)
This species is not native to our region, yet has found a home here in many places, including driveways and foundation cracks!
Spreading rapidly once established, Tree of Heaven is classified as a noxious plant in several states, and has been reported to harbor the destructive and invasive spotted lanternfly.
Several invasive plants can be found in our region’s forests. And some can be more aggressive and troublesome than others – especially when they interfere with forest health and new seedling establishment across vast wooded landscapes. If you’re a large forestland owner with invasive plant concerns, please contact us and learn more about the solutions FORECON’s vegetation management team can offer.”
